The Two Cats in My Life
Our two cats were older feral kittens when they came to us. The black one I named Black Beauty and the calico Shadow. They are very independent cats who have kept their feral ways in many ways.
To this day going on four years, Black Beauty is still very timid, does not tolerate strangers at all.
She will go outside if she hears anyone come to the house. She doesn’t like children at all. At almost four years she is very small. She doesn’t like or tolerate being picked up. She will growl, claw, hiss and even try to bite to be let down.
Shadow is the calico one.
I named her that because when she first started coming around outside she followed my husband everywhere (still does). Constantly under foot, weaving in and around his legs. He is a big man and afraid he will step on her.
We have come to think of ourselves as their staff. They whine, cry and go berserk to go outside. Scratch on the door and even window to come inside. Hubby has spoiled them rotton so they expect snacks, boy can they be nasty without them. But they are pretty much our babies. The county helped us get them fixed, thank goodness as both are females. We certainly didn’t need more little kitties around as temperamental as they are.
