Making Your Own Beautiful Button-UP Curtains

Published by memebev under Sewing Edit This

Button-Up Curtain ShadeLiving without master bedroom curtains for almost four years. I received an email from Martha Stewart Community with a link to a project making handmade Button-Up Curtains it looked very interesting.

I decided to make a set for our bedroom. Without the funds to purchase fabric for them. I decided to use current stash of fabric.  It was to be patchwork curtains. I used lighthouse material that I have made several handbags with, some tropical fabric with flowers, boats, an old station wagon vehicle with the woody sides. It reminds me of what I might see if I could afford to visit Hawaii or the islands in Florida.

Buttons and loops open the curtains to let light in. The curtains are held up with velcro strips. They make the room much darker.

My husband loves them, but then again I made them with him in mind. I told him that they will be removed and move with us as they are for our fourteenth anniversary. I make him some lighthouse curtains for our family room. That will be another blog entry sometime.
